A man from Meeker County has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for shooting and critically wounding a man last year.

Carl Henry Leaf, 20, of rural Grove City, has been sentenced for shooting Tyeson Schaumburg of rural Grove City.  Leaf reportedly shot Schaumburg in the neck back in October 2020 after he found out Schaumburg had smoked methamphetamine with Leaf's girlfriend.

Schaumburg spent some time in a coma but has recovered from his wounds.   A charge of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and other charges were dropped against Leaf when he pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Assault in September.

The judge has sentenced Leaf to 84 months in prison.  He has been given credit for 13 and-a-half months he has spent behind bars since his arrest.
