Veterans across the area who have been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak are eligible for financial assistance from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

State lawmakers have included six-point-two-million dollars in a COVID-19 funding package to assist veterans during this time. The state is accepting applications to award one-time grants for one-thousand dollars.

Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke said, "Minnesota veterans have served our country in many past conflicts, so it is only right that we support them now during this challenging time."

Minnesota veterans or a surviving spouse affected by coronavirus should contact their County Veterans Service Officer.
