The Saint John's University football team is having to deal with schedule changes due to the coronavirus this spring.

SJU was scheduled to travel to Winnipeg for a scrimmage, an international trip teams are allowed to take every three years under NCAA rules.

That meant the Johnnies would be allowed 10 padded practices in preparation, including a spring game, along with 16 non-padded spring workouts.  However, all of this has been put on hold.

The Johnnies, who graduate 14 starters (seven offense, seven defense) from last year's team, planned on using that extra time to evaluate which players might step in at those open spots.

But the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which brought an end to in-person classes and athletic events on campuses throughout the nation for the remainder of this school year, also meant the cancellation of spring football.
