A man from northern Minnesota is facing a felony fourth-degree assault charge for allegedly punching an emergency room physician.

The incident took place in Crosby.  James Julius Herman, 58, of Brainerd, appeared on the solo felony charge in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd. The charge stems from a 911 call made earlier this month from the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center regarding an assault in the emergency room.

According to the criminal complaint, an emergency room physician told Crosby police officers Herman was one of his patients and he punched him in the face.

Herman was arrested and taken to the Crow Wing County Jail.

Unconditional bail has been set at $10,000.
