A winter storm could bring snow and sleet to the area overnight Thursday into early Friday morning.
When all is said and done, parts of northwestern Minnesota could see 5 to 9 inches of snow.
Rain will turn to freezing rain and sleet behind a cold front Thursday evening across western Minnesota. This transition will push east Thursday night into Friday.
Up to one quarter of an inch of ice is possible west of a line from Mille Lacs, to the western Twin Cities suburbs, to Faribault and Albert Lea where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.
In addition, a winter storm warning is in effect for extreme western Minnesota back into parts of North Dakota and South Dakota.
