Authorities say that two people suffered non-life threatening injuries after they struck a bear while driving in northern Minnesota.

According to the report, late last week a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling north on Highway 25 near Ox Cart Trail near Brainerd when it struck a bear on the highway. The vehicle went off the road, struck a tree and then overturned.

The driver, Tyler Peterson, 19, of Brainerd, was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling northbound on Highway 25 near Ox Cart Trail.

A passenger, Cynthia Thompson, 20, of Brainerd, along with Peterson, both suffered non-life threatening injuries.  They were taken to the Essentia Health Care facility in Brainerd.
