Elective surgeries and other medical procedures must be put off due to the cornavirus in Minnesota.

Walz signed Executive Order 20-09 Thursday requiring all health care providers in the state to focus on responding to coronavirus cases and other emergencies.

The order also applies to non-emergency dental procedures.  The move follows guidance issued by the federal government to delay elective procedures to conserve resources and reduce contact between patients and providers. The order applies starting Monday at 5 p.m.

The Minnesota Hospital Association endorsed the governor’s order.
