Authorities in Otter Tail County say that a car chase ended with two people being killed.

On Friday, authorities reportedly lured a man to a convenience store in Fergus Falls hoping to arrest him on numerous warrants including drug charges, domestic assault and obstruction of justice.

Authorities say when the suspect showed up, he took off in his minivan, and headed towards the downtown in Fergus Falls with two deputies in pursuit.

Police say that Cody Frietag, 30, of Fergus Falls blew a stop sign and slammed into another car sending it flying into the Goodyear shopping center parking lot.

Frietag's car then hit a light pole before also ending up in the parking lot.

He was taken to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries.  Authorities say he is expected to survive.

The couple in the car, Steven Christianson, 72, of Fergus Falls, along with his wife, Diane Christianson, 71, of Fergus Falls, both died at the scene.

Frietag is facing a variety of charges related to the incident.
