Authorities in Douglas County say that two people were injured in an early morning motorcycle crash on County Road 21 south of the Alexandria.

The crash took place early Wednesday morning when two motorcycles traveling east encountered a deer in the roadway. The driver of one motorcycle, Jonathan Benson, 40, of Garfield, reportedly lost control and was ejected as was a passenger, Amanda Henrikson, 36, of Alexandria.

Benson was taken to Alomere Health in Alexandria.  Meanwhile, Henrikson was airlifted from the scene by LifeLink III helicopter.  The extent of their injuries are not known at this time. 

The driver of the other motorcycle was able to avoid the deer and was not injured.
