The Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson is reportedly taking a paid leave of absence.

According to a press release, Hutchinson will be taking an indefinite leave for health reasons. He announced earlier this year he will not be seeking another term in office after a drunk driving crash last December near Alexandria on I-94.

According to the report, Chief Deputy Tracey Martin will serve in charge of the Sheriff's Office in Hutchinson's absence.

Hutchinson was driving 126 mph and was not wearing a seatbelt when he crashed a Hennepin County owned vehicle five miles east of Alexandria.
