Over the weekend, a Willmar Police Officer was reportedly shot at after conducted a traffic stop.

The traffic stop took place in the 100 block of High Ave NE in Willmar.  Authorities say as the vehicle stopped, a passenger exited the Jeep, produced a handgun and fired one shot at the officer as he fled on foot. The officer was unharmed.

A suspect, later identified as Esteban Ramos, Jr., 35, of Raymond, was reportedly found inside a garage. A SWAT teams was called in to the scene. Tear gas and a vehicle mounted ram were used  to take the suspect into custody.

The Ramos was found to be suffering from various self-inflicted injuries. He was taken to Carris Health - Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

A firearm was recovered from the scene.  He was treated, then released and is currently in the Kandiyohi County Jail.

No officers were reported in the incident.
